This is where it all started.
TGG Foundation are a small rural development charity based in the district of Wayanad in Kerala, India.
They work to improve the lives of people within the rural community, especially women.
Wayanad (like much of India) is an agricultural state, with most people making their living from farming related activities. However, women are far more likely to work as farm labourers than men and earn on average 48% less for their work.
TGG Foundation wants to address this injustice and works with women in the local community to make things fairer.
Their activities include promoting and teaching sustainable agricultural practices, supporting the growth of a Self Help Group of women and operating a small stitching workshop known as the "Women Empowerment Centre".
The ladies that run the workshop mainly cater for local demand but also teach the art of stitching to local girls who are looking for a way to earn a living outside of farming.
It's here where the very first WYNAD Clothing samples were stitched.
